The Ekiti State governor-elect, Ayo Fayose, disclosed in Abuja on Thursday that the concession of defeat by the incumbent governor Kayode Fayemi was a big propaganda stunt aimed at eliciting public sympathy.
Hear what Fayose said: “The governor said I am conceding to defeat. Let me be realistic with you, there is a difference between propaganda and reality. I have been calling the governor since after our meeting but he hasn’t picked the call.
“If you read all papers now, he said I will create local governments before I go; how do you reconcile these things? I am not a propagandist, I am a realist. The governor says he will do employment before he leaves. That means you want to create problem for the incoming government.
“So I see that concession, as good as it may be, we must all be realistic about it, we must not deceive the Nigerian populace...
Fayose told the News Agency of Nigeria that Fayemi is trying to set
traps of failure for him before leaving the office of Governor in
October.
Fayose recalled that in 2003, his predecessor, Niyi Adebayo, conceded
defeat too but went ahead to conduct a mass recruitment when he had only
six months remaining in his tenure.
“If the governor says I am not going, his party too must make pronouncements otherwise I do not mind them going to court. The court will ask you: “it is usually the incumbent that rigs, why would somebody who is not an incumbent now rig and defeat you in your ward”?
He said though he would run an inclusive government, but he would only work with those who were willing to work with him.
“With due respect, I know APC more than you, I will not shoot myself in the leg before I start so I will rather let us leave it as it is. It is our government but we will make sure they have their say; minority will have their say, majority will have their way.”
It’s been about 11 days
since Nigerian Gospel singer Kefee Obareki-Don-Momoh died in the US,
throwing Nigeria fans into mourning.
The singer according to her minder suffered from lungs failure, while
she was hospitalized in a Las Vegas hospital, after spending 15 days in a
coma.
The entertainment industry has mourned with many celebrities writing
tributes to her and everybody has seemingly moved on.
The controversy over the late singer’s rumoured pregnancy has also been
cleared – Kefee’s UK manager Adeline Adebayo in statement confirming the
singer’s death stated that Kefee was NOT pregnant before she died.
‘The husband is still processing a death certificate and all necessary
documents to enable him bring her back home’, a source close to the
family tells NET.

Meanwhile, Kefee’s immediate family including her husband Teddy
Don-Momoh have all chosen to remain silent. The family, NET learns, is
still devastated over their loss and are yet to open a condolence
register for the late singer.
NET visited the family house in Mende, Maryland but was unable to speak
with any family member. The singer’s restaurant ‘Branama Kitchen’ which
is also located in Mende and is run by her family has also been shut
down.
‘Them never open shop since, no so we hear say Kefee die. It is very
sad’, a roadside trader told our correspondent who visited
neighbourhood.
Sources however tell us that burial plans are underway and things will
begin to take shape as soon as the body lands.
‘We’ve not heard anything yet. I’m waiting to speak with Teddy, then I
can discuss with you about everything’, Kefee’s personal assistant Uche
told NET over the phone.
Kefee we learn, along with Teddy, had spent the past few months in the
US attending film school and were planning to return to Nigeria to setup
a production company FourEleven Concepts, which would shoot videos and
manage artistes.
We earlier reported that Kefee’s corpse arrived Nigeria via a Delta
Airline flight on Tuesday, June 17, 2014. After obtaining the flight
manifest, we have discovered the information was wrong. Her corpse, we
have been told by a spokesperson, is still in the U.S.
The family will announce burial plans in due course.
Error greatly regretted.
