CHICKEN REPUBLIC SUPPORTS WORLD SICKLE CELL DAY COMMEMORATION
Leading QSR brand Chicken Republic has teamed up with Sickle Cell Foundation Nigeria (SCFN) to commemorate World Sickle Cell Day; a day designated by the United Nations to remember those living with Sickle Cell. Nigeria, by virtue of its large population, has the largest reservoir of the sickle cell gene in the world with over 40 million healthy carriers and about 150,000 children born yearly with sickle cell anaemia.
Speaking at a recent media workshop organised by Sickle Cell Foundation Nigeria, the Chief Operations Officer Chicken Republic; Mr Kofi Abunu said ‘we’re supporting this initiative because we believe individuals can get MORE out of life irrespective of their race, background, physical or developmental challenges’. He further added ‘we recognise there’re challenges faced by people living with sickle cell and we are glad to support the efforts of SCFN in this regard’.
You will recall that Chicken Republic supported a similar initiative last year by giving meals and drinks to all participants at the walk, as part of its CSR initiatives.
Chicken Republic is the fastest growing Chicken QSR in West Africa and the number one Chicken quick service restaurant in Nigeria. It has 65 stores across Nigeria and Ghana and is continually pursuing an aggressive franchising model and product innovation drive as part of its expansion drive.
